WYNNE, AR (KAIT) - Students on the Wynne Stinger Robotics Team from Wynne Intermediate School of Innovation won multiple awards March 3 at the Vex IQ Elementary School State Championship in Russellville.
According to a news release, the students won the Robot Skills State Championship Award, which is presented to the team with the top skills points after students drive their robot and have it run autonomously.
The team also won the state Team Champion award.
That award is given to the top team after teams were pitted against each other in the final match competition.
During the award ceremony, the team was awarded the Excellence Award for the Vex IQ State Robotics Championship, which it the most coveted prize at the competition.
The students qualified to compete in the Vex IQ Worlds Championship April 29-May 2 in Louisville, KY. The team will be competing against 400 teams from multiple countries around the world.
The students are coached by Jason Nichols, a 5th-grade teacher at Wynne Intermediate.
