SHARP COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A bridge project that began last Spring in Sharp County is now completed.
This new bridge is on Nelsonville Road in Calamine.
It replaced a structure that Sharp County bought in the 1960s from the State of Kentucky.
In April 2017, Road Superintendent Dan Melbourne told Region 8 News that structure was failing.
It couldn't withstand the weight of chicken trucks that regularly travel that road anymore and was beginning to cave in.
This project cost about $1.6 million, but thanks to state and federal aid, Melbourne said the county paid about $20,000.
