HORSESHOE BEND (KAIT) - A special milestone celebration occurred for one Horseshoe Bend resident Monday as Helene Keen celebrated her 100th birthday.
Horseshoe Bend's mayor honored Keen with a signed proclamation, making Sunday, March 11, Helene Keen Day.
Keen's has lived quite the life over the last 100 years, serving in the army three years as a medical technician and psychotherapist, along with working as a physical therapist for over 50 years.
When asked how she made it this far, Keen said the best thing you can do is simply make healthy choices.
"Age is only a number, and as long as you take care of yourself and eat right and do minimum exercise, and listen to the adults, you're on your own," Keen said.
Keen also received a signed letter from Gov. Asa Hutchinson wishing her a happy birthday.
