HEBER SPRINGS, AR (KAIT/KARK) - The man who fell nearly 80 feet from Sugarloaf Mountain has been identified as 20-year-old Trevor McCarroll of Searcy.
It happened Sunday in Heber Springs.
Family members have gathered at a hospital in Little Rock as McCarroll recovers.
Shyland Roberson told KARK she remembers an image that will stick in her mind forever. She had no idea a hiking trip would end with her brother falling down onto a bed of rocks.
"It was terrifying the look he had on his face. The twig didn't support his weight, it snapped and he starting sliding down, this dirt slope," says Roberson.
Heber Springs police and EMT's helped airlift McCarroll to the hospital where he underwent several surgeries for a broken pelvis, ribs, and ankle.
The family hopes he will be back to normal soon doing what he loves to do best, singing music.
