JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Salvation Army said its pantry is "extremely low."
Region 8 News took a glimpse at the pantry shelves Wednesday.
"It might look like a lot of food, but this is almost scary low," Sue Webster with the Salvation Army said.
Webster said there is currently not enough food to properly feed the hungry.
"These shelves are usually stacked and filled," she said.
On Wednesday, Webster said it was nearly empty considering the numerous families the Salvation Army feeds daily.
According to Webster, they are at a point where they have to cut back on the amount of food they give each person.
"It's like when you are at home and you look in the fridge and you panic because there's no milk, these people are panicking because there's no food to feed their children or themselves, so this is low," Webster said.
The Salvation Army is asking for businesses and community members to donate what they can.
They are in need of dry foods that won't spoil, breads and canned goods. They are very low on baby food and diapers.
