CROSS COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

The Wynne Sports Complex has undergone several upgrades recently.

And the Cross County Office of Emergency Management Director is working on another upgrade designed for safety.

It’s still in the very early planning stages, but Director Glenn South said they want to add an additional exit from the complex out to another road.

The complex has only one entrance and one exit right now, and South said it would take about 45 minutes to evacuate the park if they needed to.

He said a new exit would cut that time in half.

“Even if it’s not an evacuation, but just a regular event going on,” South said. “There are lots of people and lots of vehicles and this exit would give us a way out of the park.”

South said it’s better to start planning now before an emergency happens.

The next step is the acquisition of property for an easement needed to build that road.

South said he doesn't have a timeline for the project just yet, but they are working to make progress.
