WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

The newly named Williams Baptist University will also have a new person in charge.

On Friday, the university announced Dr. Stan Norman will officially lead the university come April.

Dr. Norman comes to Walnut Ridge from Oklahoma Baptist University where he served nine years as provost and executive vice president.

"I am incredibly honored by this selection and truly humbled at the graciousness of God to lead the WBU Board of Trustees to invite Joy and me to serve at Williams Baptist University," Dr. Norman stated in a news release. "Six other men have served the Lord faithfully as president of WBU, and I recognize that I will stand on their shoulders and that my efforts will benefit from their sacrificial service and contributions."

He was selected as the seventh president of WBU.

Dr. Norman takes over for Dr. Tom Jones who announced his resignation last December.
