JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

An event Saturday gave residents at the Jonesboro Human Development Center an opportunity to see a livestock show and learn that taking care of animals is an important part of life.

The Craighead County 4-H group sponsored a Shamrock Showdown Saturday. During the event, the kids who are in 4-H spoke to the residents about grooming and taking care of the animals as well as feeding them.

Craighead County Extension Agent Maleigha Cook said the event was important for everyone involved.

"We really wanted to give an opportunity for everybody regardless of any disability that they might have to come out and experience this just to say that just because you have a disability does not mean you have an inability to work with animals," Cook said.

The group also hosted a mock show and a cookout after the event.
