Deputies make record drug bust

IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

An ongoing investigation led to Izard County sheriff’s deputies seizing a record amount of meth.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, deputies recently arrested three people and seized five pounds of meth.

Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley said officers with the sheriff's office, along with the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force, Arkansas State Police, and the South-Central Missouri Drug Task Force, arrested Charles Peter Shepherd, Rhonda Gale Peebles, and Ricky Lee Schiltz of Sage.

Shepherd and Peebles are each charged with trafficking of a Level II controlled substance (methamphetamine) greater than 200 grams. They’re both being held on $20,000 bond awaiting an April 23 appearance in Izard County Circuit Court.

Schiltz is charged with maintaining a drug premises, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, and habitual offender. He’s being held at the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $250,000 bond with an April 23 circuit court appearance.
