JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A traffic stop Monday led to a man's arrest on forgery charges.

Officer Bryan Davis conducted a probation search of Eric Paul Luper, 39, of Jonesboro following a traffic stop late Monday night, according to a probable cause affidavit.

During the search, the officer reported finding nine $100 counterfeit bills in Luper's wallet.

"These bills had the same serial number as other counterfeit bills that had been previously passed at businesses in town," the affidavit said.

On Tuesday, Craighead County District Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Luper with forgery, a Class B felony. If convicted, he could be fined up to $15,000 and sentenced to 5-20 years in prison.

Luper is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $1,500 cash/surety bond awaiting an April 27 appearance in circuit court.
