Over the past several years, I've had the joy of shining the light on Region 8.
But Geoffrey Chaucer once wrote in a poem, "All good things must come to an end."
I've accepted the position of VP/GM at KFVS, the Raycom station located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Recently, while reflecting on the fact that this is my last "Better Region 8" editorial, I realized that YOU did a lot to make Region 8 better.
Jonesboro police got the pay raise they deserved.
It looks like we are finally getting a convention center.
You took care of people in need by donating millions of dollars to Make-A-Wish, St. Jude, UCP and the American Red Cross just to name a few.
I will miss my team at KAIT, my friends—especially the 7 a.m. coffee group—and our clients who've been loyal to us while we help their businesses grow.
The good news is that Raycom is bringing home Region 8 native Hatton Weeks as KAIT's new Vice President and General Manager.
Many of you may already know Hatton. He has been the News Director at WLBT and WDBD in Jackson, Mississippi for the last three years. Before that, he served as the News Director at KAIT from 2007 until 2015.
He is a native of Harrisburg, AR, a graduate of Arkansas State University, and began his television career over 25 years ago in the newsroom at KAIT.
Along the way Hatton reported, produced and anchored. He was Field Representative for 1st District Congressman Marion Berry.
Hatton and his family are excited to come home to Region 8 and to KAIT.
So congratulations to my long-time friend Hatton Weeks.
I want to say thank you Region 8 for letting me serve you. It's a big move for my wife and me and the teams at both stations. We will always have ties to Region 8 especially since our two youngest children are students at A-State and plan to stay and root for the Red Wolves.
So this is a happy goodbye. You've made my family and me better. Keep up the good work and always stay dedicated to making this A Better Region 8.
