HARRISBURG, AR (KAIT) - In the midst of softball season, Harrisburg officials are working on upgrades to its city ball fields.
Mayor Randy Mills said it was part of a larger project that started almost three years ago.
The step they're working on now is adding a dirt infield to the softball field near the elementary school.
"So that's what we're doing out here," Mills said. "We're putting conditioner on top of the field to help the young people have a good time in the summer in recreation."
Mills said they are a little behind schedule due to weather.
The softball team has had to play several away games because the field isn't quite finished.
But Mills said they're doing what they can, as quickly as possible.
