POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - The recent wet weather has impacted work being done on the new Black River Bridge in Pocahontas.
The weather has caused some delays for crews in 2018.
Work on the bridge has been underway for more than a year.
Arkansas Department of Transportation District Construction engineer Alan Walter said just this year alone high river levels and rain have set the project back at least two weeks.
He said crews are now working quickly to get ahead of any other wet weather.
"Things are progressing and we really feel like by Labor Day, it'll be very obvious that it's coming to completion," he said.
Despite the delay, the project should be near completion by September 2018.
Walter said additional wet weather could cause additional delays, but he doesn't expect major delays to the project.
