Search leads to arrest in drug, weapons case

CROSS COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Cross County man fled from police Thursday in a vehicle and on foot, with authorities reportedly finding drugs on the man. 

According to a post from the Cross County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Paris Wilson of Wynne was arrested after Cross County deputies tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction. 

The vehicle then fled at a high rate of speed, but ended up in a ditch, police said. 

Wilson, who was driving, and a passenger fled on foot and police were able to catch Wilson. 

Deputies reportedly found a loaded firearm on Wilson as well as narcotics, the post noted. 

Wilson was arrested on suspicion of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, furnishing prohibited articles, possession of schedule I controlled substance (meth), possession of a firearm by certain persons, fleeing in a vehicle, speeding, reckless driving, no insurance, fictitious tags and no registration.
