JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Craighead County woman will be in court next month after she allegedly made a false statement to police in July 2016.

Whitney Nicole Mead of Jonesboro was arrested Friday by Jonesboro police on suspicion of filing a false report with law enforcement after an investigation

According to a probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police went to the 1700 block of West Nettleton Avenue on July 28, 2016 after getting an anonymous call, saying that a woman had been raped or sexually assaulted.

However, Detective Jason Simpkins said in the affidavit that he spoke to a tenant in the area about the case.

"The resident advised that Whitney Mead was arguing with (the person) about a vehicle that they shared," Simpkins said. "The resident stated that Whitney Mead told (the person) that she was going to call the police and report that he raped her. The tenant stated that (the person) then fled from the apartment. The tenant verified that the call made was false."

A $1,500 bond was set Friday for Mead, who will be arraigned April 27 in circuit court.
