BENTONVILLE, AR (KAIT/KNWA) -

A Northwest Arkansas man who formerly served as mayor in Highfill faces two charges in connection with an inappropriate relationship with a minor, according to published reports.

Stacy Digby was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of sexual indecency with a child and first-degree sexual assault after the several-month investigation by the Benton County Sheriff's Department, television station KNWA reported.

Benton County deputies served a search warrant at Digby's home in January but declined to comment at the time, citing the ongoing investigation. However, KNWA reported Wednesday that residents and members of a local church began questioning a relationship between Digby and the girl, who is now 17.

Police later interviewed the girl, as well as two of her family members and an ex-girlfriend of Digby.

"The ex-girlfriend told police Digby confessed to having pictures of the 17-year-old and to having sexual intercourse since she was 12 or 13 years old," KNWA reported.

Authorities also seized a 500 GB external hard drive, believed to be owned by Digby, from Digby's parents home.
