AR health offices to offer certificates by year's end

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - By the end of the year, Arkansans will no longer have to wait long periods of time for their birth and death certificates.

A luxury that has only been available to certain counties and recently expanded to Craighead County. The service will now be offered to every county in Arkansas by the end of 2018.

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) will be providing "same day processing" of birth and death certificates to all counties.

"Arkansans need access to their vital records for a variety of reasons, some of which can be time-sensitive," Don Adams, ADH Center Director for Local Public Health, stated in a news release Thursday.

Record requests will still be processed at the central ADH office in Little Rock.

Online and mail-in requests will also still be available. Any requests to change or correct information on existing birth or death certificates must still be handled in the Little Rock office located at 4815 W. Markham St.
