Senior Center opens in Newport

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) -

Area seniors in Jackson County will now have the opportunity to visit and talk with each other at a senior center that recently opened. 

The Jackson County Senior Center opened Thursday at the former Castleberry Elementary kindergarten building on North Pecan Street, according to officials with the Newport Area Chamber of Commerce. 

The center will offer a game room, daily activities and breakfast Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8 a.m., with lunch at 11 a.m. daily. The building will also have a community room for groups to use. 

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
