PIGGOTT, AR (KAIT) - The city of Piggott is getting ready for their largest tourist event of the year, which is the annual car show in May.
The 16th annual event will be held in Heritage Park.
Mayor Jim Poole says he is expecting an even bigger crowd at this year's show. He says this means city employees will have a busy month preparing the town and the park for such a large crowd.
"The car show is great for us it brings a lot of people into town, boosts our sales tax revenues because they eat, a lot of people stay here, and it's a really a big event for us," Poole said.
Crews will spend the next few weeks preparing streets and doing necessary maintenance, like filling potholes.
He says with so many classic cars coming into town, it's important that the roads are in the best shape.
The car show will be held from May 18-20.
