Former Region 8 School Administrator Pleads Guilty to Sexual Solicitation

AUGUST 30, 2005 - Posted at 3:00 p.m. CDT

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - A former Region 8 school principal has pleaded guilty to a felony charge and will register as a sex offender, avoiding trial on accusations that he tried to solicit a 14-year-old teenager for sex over the Internet.

Roger Dale Brooks, 54, former assistant principal at Rivercrest Junior High School in Wilson (Mississippi County), pleaded guilty in Pulaski County to a charge of sexual solicitation.

Brooks was arrested by Mississippi County Sheriff's deputies in August 2003, acting on behalf of the North Little Rock Police Department, which targeted Brooks in an undercover Internet "sting" operation in which one of its officers posed as a 14-year-old.

At the time, Brooks was a 20-year employee of the Rivercrest-South Mississippi County School District.
