Firefighter injured fighting house fire

WEST PLAINS, MO (KAIT) -

A West Plains firefighter was injured fighting a house fire Monday morning. 

According to the West Plains Fire Department's Facebook page, the fire broke out at a home in the 700-block of Texas Avenue around 8 a.m.

When crews arrived, smoke was blowing across Utah and Porter Streets causing limited visibility.

The home was engulfed in heavy smoke, with fire coming through the roof. 

A firefighter was injured and transported by ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center, where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
