Torrential rainfall rates possible with gusty winds over the next few days, but especially Thursday
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The area of high pressure keeping conditions quiet for a few days is moving away from the region. Consequently, clouds will be on the increase this evening and overnight. As the low level jet increases a few showers will be possible to our west after midnight.
A better chance for showers along the warm front will arrive in a scattered fashion during the morning hours, but most likely during the afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms that develop will have the potential to produce heavy rainfall rates.
Impulses of energy will continue to pivot through the region over the next several days.
In fact, because of the heavy rain threat combined with the first day of the State Fair, we’ve declared Thursday an Alert Day. Additional scattered downpours will be likely for the first part of the weekend. Temperatures will be slightly below average in the mid 80s due to the expected cloud cover.
Shower west late (10%)
Early thunderstorms. (40%)
Scattered in the afternoon (30%)
THURSDAY - ALERT DAY
AM rain, heavy at times (60%)
PM thunderstorms (70%)
