JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Strong overnight storms had an impact on Region 8 Thursday.

In Dunklin County, a big tree reportedly came down and hit a sheriff's unit around 1:15 a.m., according to Emergency Coordinator Lonnie Ward.

Ward stated the tree fell on State Highway V about a half mile west of Dunklin County Road 621.

The deputy is okay and MoDOT has since cleared the road.

According to a post from the Paragould Police Department Facebook page, trees are down on S. 7th St, Carroll Rd., and W. Thompson.

As power lines are also down, please avoid these areas. City street crews and PLWC are on the scene.

Independence and Lawrence County are experiencing massive outages early Friday morning.

Over 1,600 Entergy customers are in the dark in Independence while over 1,100 are affected in Lawrence.
