JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Several tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings pounded Region 8 Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Hail, from the sizes of peas to baseballs, hit several areas as the storms moved through Region 8.

The Greene County Office of Emergency Management is reporting power lines and poles are leaning over Highway 69, forcing crews to shut down the road north of the bypass.

They're asking the motorist to avoid Highway 69 between Highway 412 & the bypass in Paragould.

In Craighead County, wind caused damage to a home in Bay.

Several schools delayed or canceled, after-school activities because of the pending weather.

Several cities opened safe rooms ahead of the storms, but luckily no confirmed tornadoes touched down in Region 8.
