STONE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Stone County man was arrested after a woman accused him of abusing her as she was holding a toddler in her arms.

Sheriff Lance Bonds states his deputies responded to a call about a "physical disturbance between a male and female" in the Fox area on March 22.

Deputies found the female victim at the Fox Post Office. She said Royce Callahan, 36, of Fox had choked her in the kitchen of a residence.

The woman said at one point she tried to leave the residence and was blocked by Callahan.

She told deputies Callahan choked and struck her several times as she held a toddler in her arms. Later, the woman was able to leave the residence and contacted authorities.

On March 26, Callahan was contacted at his residence by deputies and later arrested.

He faces charges of endangering the welfare of a minor, a felony, as well as two counts of misdemeanor domestic battering.

Callahan's bond was set at $10,000. He awaits a Stone County Circuit Court date.
