HARDY, AR (KAIT) - Multiple crews worked to put out a fire at a motel in Hardy.
Firefighters were called to Sunset Suites Motel, 2504 U.S 63, Wednesday morning at 8:30, according to Hardy Mayor Jason Jackson.
Jackson said the motel was fully-engulfed when crews arrived, and everyone made it out of the building.
Because there was no access to a hydrant, getting enough water fast enough to keep the flames under control was difficult.
Jackson said they were able to shuttle water back and forth with tankers.
But Jackson said the bigger issue was the motel's common attic.
"The biggest thing was it was already fully engulfed when we got here on scene and it was traveling through the attic," Jackson said. "So anytime you run into that problem it just makes it a really hard structure to get in there and fight."
Jackson said their main concern was saving all the structures around the motel, which they were able to do.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
