HOT SPRING COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas State Police posted an encouraging update about a trooper who was shot in the line of duty.

In a post on Wednesday, ASP stated the following about Trooper Kyle Sheldon's condition:

"We are beyond thankful to be able to tell you all that he is doing well, and recovering from a successful surgery. Trooper Sheldon is a fighter, and has done nothing but prove he is ready to get back home to his family and back on the road with his partners."

Sheldon was shot on Sunday during a traffic stop in Hot Spring County.

Elsbeth Tresa Kittinger, 49, of Fort Worth, Texas was arrested during the incident.

The Facebook post from ASP also stated a support account is set up. Donations can be made to the "Kyle Sheldon Contribution Account" at Arvest Bank locations across the state.

All of the proceeds will go to the trooper and his family.
