JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Traffic on Red Wolf Blvd. has been even more backed up recently.
That's because of a road project the city is working on at Red Wolf and Nettleton, with the purpose of the roadwork used to create a dedicated turn lane.
Red Wolf is a state highway, so typically the state would handle all construction.
But because this intersection sees such a high volume of traffic, the city asked to be approved to do the work themselves and get it done quicker.
Mayor Harold Perrin said these dedicated turn lanes are necessary to improve the everyday traffic flow.
"When you see an orange barrel just think with me its progress," Perrin said. "So, just be patient and just think in a few weeks when you come through there, you're going to have that great dedicated turn lane."
This is just one of three dedicated turn lane projects the city has taken on.
Mayor Perrin said the turning lanes at Red Wolf and Stallings, Red Wolf and Nettleton, and Windover and Harrisburg should all be completed by the end of June 2018.
