PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Greene County Tech Primary students will soon have iPads to use in the classroom.
The School Board approved the $110,000 purchase right before Spring Break.
Superintendent Gene Weeks said that the kindergarten and first-grade students have access to a computer lab in the building and interactive whiteboards right now.
But they want to give teachers and students more educational opportunities through technology.
"It really gives you a lot of different angles and opportunities with different subject areas and different learning techniques and where kids are at different levels," Weeks said. "You might take a kid with an iPad who needs some interventions then you may have a kid who's way ahead."
There will be five iPads in each Kindergarten and first-grade classroom.
Teachers will undergo training on the software this summer.
"You make the purchase and you spend all that money, you want to make sure your teachers are comfortable delivering and using that technology so we think that was a big part of the puzzle," Weeks said.
