LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT/KARK) - October 7, 2017, was a scary day for one off-duty Little Rock police officer.

Officer Brittany Gunn requested backup just after 4 a.m.

Investigators say Gunn asked the driver to get out of the car after spotting him drinking behind the wheel in a parking lot. Officers thought the car was in park during the arrest but somehow it switched into drive.

The driver took off with Gunn inside, knocking the other officer unconscious on the ground.

Authorities say that Gunn used her taser but it had no effect on the driver.

Other officers were headed to help when they nearly hit the driver as it plowed through the brick wall.

Gunn fell out of the car into the street. She was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released.

Officers and paramedics attempted to treat the driver but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the case file obtained by KARK, the autopsy report was not included so there's no word on if the driver was intoxicated.

Gunn has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
