PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - A woman faces a DWI charge after she reportedly hit a vehicle head-on, with a toddler in the vehicle, Paragould police said Thursday.

Pamula Whitaker of Paragould was cited for DWI-drugs, endangering the welfare of a minor-2nd degree and reckless driving after Paragould police got a call around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday about a hazardous driver that struck a car then hit another vehicle that was parked.

According to the police report, officers found a white Mazda parked in front of a pickup truck on 10th Avenue, while the pickup was parked on the side of the road facing north while the Mazda was in front of the truck facing south in the opposite lane.

Officer Gunner Fultz said he walked up to the Mazda and saw Whitaker, who was driving. The vehicle was still running and the keys were in the ignition while Whitaker had her foot on the brake and the vehicle was in reverse, police said.

"I asked her what happened and she said, 'I swerved,'" Fultz said in the report.

Police also reportedly found several pill bottles in the passenger floorboard of the car.

The child was turned over to the custody of a family member, police said.
