CARAWAY, AR (KAIT) -

A Caraway staple is gone, but a new business is taking its place.

The small town's historic Masonic Lodge was recently torn down.

Now stands slab in its place where Access Medical Group will soon be located.

Caraway Mayor Barry Riley said the town hasn't had a medical care facility since the 1980's.

The new medical business will have a nurse practitioner on-site.

“We sold a place that was iconic to the town, but we are gaining progress. we are getting people to take care of us medically,” Riley said.

The city hopes the new addition on the town’s main drag will be a domino effect.

“This is great for the city of Caraway,” Riley said. “We are hoping behind this we will get a pharmacy and things will continue on. Hopefully, people will then jump on the bandwagon in Caraway and help us grown.”

Access Medical Group plans to open its doors in Caraway in roughly six weeks, according to Riley.

He thanked the business for taking a chance and helping his small town grown.
