Red Wolves win four events at Georgia’s Spec Towns Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. (4/7/18) – Four Arkansas State track and field athletes earned event wins at the University of Georgia Spec Towns Invitational this weekend while the Red Wolves added 26 top-five finishes.

Cristian Ravar Ladislau won the hammer throw for a third consecutive meet. He took top honors at this meet with a throw of 65.58m (215-2) to top the field by more than 10 feet. Pauline Meyer raced to the win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.12, the third-fastest time in program history.

Nick Hilson paced the field in the 400-meter hurdles, winning with a time of 52.21 seconds for his first event title this outdoor season. Michael Carr rounded out the individual winners by winning the pole vault with a mark of 5.25m (17-2.75).

Carter Shell placed second in the long jump, but with a mark of 7.69m (25-02.75), the freshman moves atop the Sun Belt Conference performance list and to seventh in program history. Itamar Levi missed out on a podium finish, but he produced a personal best with a shot put of 18.69m (61-4.00), the second-best throw in program history. Calea Carr finished second in the women’s shot put with a throw of 15.49m (50-10.00), a personal best and second best throw in program history.

A-State also had several athletes competing at the Little Rock Open. The Red Wolves claimed individual honors with Seth Waters winning the 800-meter run (1:57.42), Bennett Pascoe first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:59.72) and Rebecca Eldien won both the 1,500-meter run (4:58.58) and 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:45.31).

The A-State Track & Field teams return to action next weekend at the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Ala. The Red Wolves Open is set for April 20-21 at the A-State Track & Field Complex.
