JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Kids at City Youth Ministries in Jonesboro got a furry surprise today.

They got to meet Luke.

He’s a therapy dog and Pat Carlisle is his handler. They both had to go to a class to be certified.

Carlisle takes Luke to St. Bernards Hospice to meet patients, and she got the idea to start with kids.

Carlisle said she hoped Luke can give the same love to these kids, as her childhood dog gave to her.

“And I know he can’t go home with them,” Carlisle said. “But, perhaps he can just make them feel good for the moment and have it carry on.”

Monday was Luke’s first day at City Youth Ministries.

And Carlisle said he will be there every Monday and Wednesday to play with the kids.
