TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) -

Trumann police arrested a man on suspicion of rape after a girl reportedly asked her mom about birth control.

The investigation into 23-year-old Montrell Lashun Hillard began last November, according to the initial incident report, when the 14-year-old victim asked her mother about taking birth control.

When her mom asked why, the girl reportedly began to cry and said she did not want to “hold it in anymore.”

The victim claimed Hillard, who once dated her mother, had made her “do everything.”

The girl told an Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children investigator the alleged acts began in 2015 when she was 12 years old.

She said Hillard had purchased her a cell phone and began “texting her strange things about her mother not doing what he wanted.”

Then one day, while her mother was at work, she said Hillard sent her a text telling her to meet him in the shed behind their apartment on Dogwood.

When the girl went to the shed, she said she found Hillard standing inside beside a mattress.

According to the incident report, Hillard told the girl to lay down on the mattress, then pulled off her pants.

After pulling his pants halfway down, the victim said Hillard “put his stuff in me.” When asked to clarify, the victim said he put his penis in her vagina.

After the alleged incident, she said Hillard told her “not to tell anyone or he would kill her.”

The victim said she believed him because “he was crazy and had physically abused her mother on multiple occasions.”

The girl said Hillard had sex with her numerous times, usually when her mother was at work or the store, and in several locations, including a motel in Memphis.

After interviewing multiple witnesses, police obtained a warrant for Hillard’s arrest on Feb. 15.

On Tuesday, April 10, Poinsett County sheriff’s deputies traveled to the Cook County Detention Center in Chicago, IL, and picked him for transport back to Poinsett County.

Hillard is expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday for a probable cause hearing on an allegation of rape.
