BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT) - A group of Special Olympians at one area school were cheered on Wednesday, with students saying the event helps to honor the athletes who are preparing for an upcoming competition.
A pep rally was held at Brookland High School to show support for the athletes. The pep rally, which is in its second year, included games with the Olympians and students said the opportunity to support a worthy cause was important to them.
"This is a great way for us to show how proud we are of them and what they're doing," sophomore Colten Sedman said.
"I feel like it's good for our community and then it's going to show that we are trying to make our community better and support the kids and everything that they do and trying to make them happy," sophomore Kaylyn Tucker said.
