BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - The event has been around for nearly four decades and supporters say this year's event will be the best one yet.
The 39th annual Arkansas Scottish Festival, hosted by Lyon College, started Thursday and goes through April 15.
Admission to the festival is free, with everything from a Celtic concert Thursday to bagpipers on Friday.
Entertainment starts Friday at Pocket Park between 3rd and 4th Streets on Main Street with bagpiper Patrick Regan and singer-storyteller Ricky Pitman at 4:30 p.m.
Also, registration for the Kilted Mile will start at the Landers Building on East Main Street at 4:30 p.m. There will also be a free showing of the movie, "Braveheart" at 6 p.m. Friday at the Melba Theater on West Main Street.
The festival will also kickoff at 8 a.m. Saturday with a book sale at the Lyon College library. Other events include sheepdog demonstrations, piping and drumming and a British car show.
The festival is scheduled to end on Sunday.
