BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A Mississippi County company's expansion could bring 100 new jobs to the area.
Nucor Steel Arkansas held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday to announce its $230 million cold mill expansion.
Vice President and General Manager Mary Emily Slate said the expansion will be the first of its kind in North America but its greatest impact will be seen right here in the surrounding communities.
"It's incredible for this community because not only is it this one expansion but when we develop a job so when there's 100 jobs added that adds about five jobs to everyone to the community so it will attract other businesses to come here and we really think it'll attract businesses that focus on automotive," Slate said.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson also spoke at the ceremony, congratulating Nucor on its expansion and hoping for further expansion in the future.
