LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT/KARK) - April has been designated as the month of the military children.
On Thursday, the Arkansas Department of Education recognized military families from each branch of the armed forces during the state board of education meeting.
Aaron Sample is a Second Class Petty Officer in the Navy.
"Not only do we make sacrifices to serve the children make sacrifices as well. Not only the stress they go through not only with school but also when the parent is deployed," said Sample.
Also during the meeting, the Arkansas Purple Star School Award was talked about.
It will be given to military friendly schools in an honorary designation.
Arkansas will be only the third state to have such an award.
