(KAIT/KNWA) - Crawford County emergency crews are assessing the damage after a possible tornado touched down in Mountainburg.
According to NBC affiliate KNWA in Fayetteville, officials say the storm damaged at least 160 buildings and left three people trapped in their homes.
Those trapped were taken to a local hospital after being rescued by firefighters.
The storms knocked down trees, power lines and blew off roofs.
Resident Jerry Elkins said he got a call from his son-in-law saying that a possible tornado was headed his way.
"So I got in the bathroom and my daughter called me and said get in the bathroom and I said well I'm already there and I shut the door and I just started hearing all kinds of stuff going on outside the door, and the rest of my house is fine other than what you see here," Elkins said. "The corner and my carport is gone."
So far, no deaths have been reported.
