Mayor recommends no longer taking Entergy payments

HOXIE, AR (KAIT) - Hoxie Mayor Lanny Tinker recommended that the city no longer take payments for Entergy.

At Tuesday's city council meeting, Tinker made his recommendation know for multiple reasons.

He said at times it was overwhelming for the city to deal with the large volume of people making payments, not just city residents, but any Entergy customer.

The mayor also said it wasn't cost effective for the city to devote resources to the matter,

"It's a little bit less than a percent of a full-time person's salary. Then we decided there that we were taking in $142 a month, and it's not just worth that." Tinker said.

The Hoxie City Council also adopted a resolution amending the personnel policy to now include a drug-free workplace amendment.

The new policy would apply to city employees with a non-CDL drivers license.

City leaders were also briefed about ongoing sewer repairs, due to recent weather.
