Stranger checks 5-year-old out of school

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT/KARK) -

A central Arkansas man was in shock after his 5-year-old daughter came home from school and said she had been to the dentist, without his permission.

According to KARK, Charles Witcher made several phone calls to Capital City Lighthouse Charter School and learned A-Capitol Dental picked his child up and took her to their office.

"After they got to the dentist office and the dentist asked her name, and she told the dentist she was Kaile Witcher and he was like, 'oh you the wrong child,'" Witcher said.

Witcher’s kindergartener was taken back to the school, however, he was never notified.

The student handbook states that if a child is picked up from school, a parent or legal guardian must give written consent.

The school, which also has campuses in Indiana and New York, has not commented on the incident, however, Witcher says the school did call to apologize for the mix-up.

Witcher now hopes changes are put in place to keep a similar incident from happening again.
