Got Moonshine? Greene County Authorities Confiscate Still

SEPTEMBER 2, 2005 - Posted at 7:59 a.m. CDT

PARAGOULD, AR - An on-going undercover investigation in Greene County uncovered an old-fashioned moonshine operation Wednesday night.

Greene County sheriff's deputies discovered two gallons and several pints of pure grain alcohol, as well as the components of a "still" used to make the liquor.  Authorites were originally observing the rural location as a suspected methamphetamine lab.

"In any world there is a demand for anything, from razor blades to moonshine.  And where there is a need, someone will produce it," said Sheriff Dan Langston.

No arrests have yet been made in the case. The evidence will be turned over to the federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms.
