LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT/KARK) -

On Thursday, an Arkansas non-profit profit is raising awareness about sexual assault through storytelling.

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Yarn is hosting an event at the Ron Robinson Auditorium in Little Rock.

Nine storytellers will bring their personal experiences to the stage.

"For our storytellers, it gives them a chance to own the story and its a very empowering experience," said Hilary Trudell Artistic Director for Yarn.

Trudell says Yarn says 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will experience some sort of sexual violence in their lifetime.

If you would like to learn more about this event, go to KARK's website to find out more.
