BENTON, AR (KAIT/KARK) -

A child is now recovering after sustaining trauma to the head, and the babysitter is awaiting a court date.

According to KARK, Briar and Nadine Kilburn's son, Ryder was rushed to the hospital in February after he apparently went limp while Torrie Jones was watching him.

After doctors took a cat scan of the young child, they found a fracture on his skull. Doctors immediate reaction was that it was no accident.

According to the Kilburns, Jones has refused to say how Ryder was injured. Benton Police Department then began an investigation into the incident.

Doctors say Ryder is showing delays in his developmental functions and is at risk for seizures.

"It's heartbreaking, you know," Nadine Kilburn said. "Somebody you trusted to take care of your kids and they just abused them for whatever reason I mean there's no excuse for what she did, he can't defend himself."

Jones was arrested April 18 for first-degree battery. She later bonded out of jail and will appear in court next month.

Jones could now be placed on the child maltreatment registry, pending the outcome of the investigation.
