(KAIT/NBC) - Do you ever take a picture of your food before you eat it? You're not the only one.
Social media is shaping the future of food.
Almost 70 percent of millennials admit to taking photos of their food.
But Gen-X isn't too far behind-almost half of 35 to 49-year-olds snap a pic before chowing down.
Instagram's launch in 2010 upped the appetite for food photography, as camera phones found a place at the dinner table.
Data visualization reporter Vince Dixon says the food and beverage industry is happy to reap the benefits of the social media spotlight.
"The challenge that restaurant managers have is creating the next best thing to top what they created before," Dixon said.
