MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - After the cold temperatures and large amounts of rain the area has seen this year, one county landfill is having problems with equipment.
Now, instead of owning the machinery, the Mississippi County Landfill is attempting a leasing agreement.
County Judge Terri Brassfield said specifically three pieces of equipment in the landfill depreciate faster than the others because of the working conditions they are in.
The county is working toward a leasing agreement with Riggs CAT in Jonesboro, so every three years, the county can decide to upgrade the equipment.
Judge Brassfield said the Quorum Court has been very supportive, and the leasing opportunity will help keep the landfill's budget on track.
