BRINKLEY, AR (KAIT) -

Authorities in Monroe County busted an illegal gambling operation.

According to the First Judicial District Drug Task Force, agents searched the Gene Bar-B-Que & Restaurant in Brinkley on Thursday.

The search followed a month-long investigation requested by the prosecuting attorney. The crime, according to the prosecutor, was keeping a gambling house. That crime is a Class D Felony.

Agents seized ten video arcade machines and cash.

According to content partner KATV, the business is owned by Brinkley City Councilman Gene DePriest.

"Several patrons located inside the illegal casino were interviewed and released," the task force said on Facebook.

The investigation is ongoing.
