BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A search Friday uncovered meth, drug paraphernalia, and firearms and landed two people in jail, Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said Friday.
Zachary Roy Bales and Taylor Lynn Dewitt were arrested Friday after authorities served a search warrant in the 300-block of West North Street in Mountain Home.
The search led to authorities finding around 4.6 grams of meth, drug paraphernalia and two weapons, including a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, Montgomery said.
Bales was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance-meth with purpose to deliver, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal use of a prohibited weapon, possession of firearms by certain persons and firearms possession during commission of another crime. Dewitt was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance-meth with purpose to deliver, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal use of prohibited weapon and firearms possession during commission of another crime.
A $35,000 bond was set for Bales, while a $25,000 bond was set for Dewitt. Montgomery said Bales has been booked into the Baxter County jail 16 times since 2012, while Dewitt has been booked three times since 2017 into the jail.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected, Montgomery said, noting Baxter County deputies, Arkansas State Police, 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Mountain Home Police Department were involved in the investigation and arrests of Bales and Dewitt.
