Event honors new Lyon College president

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - There is a new president at Lyon College.

A ceremony was held Friday to honor Dr. W. Joseph King at the Batesville college. Several musical performances, including bagpipe performers, were at the event.

King, who was inaugurated as president by the chairman of the college's board, Perry Wilson, said the college and its students have an important role in history.

"We are here securing our legacy for generations to come," King said during the ceremony.

King served as a senior advisor to the president of Emery & Henry College in Virginia before becoming president of Lyon College. He also graduated from Southwestern University with a double major in computer science and experimental psychology, officials said.
